bottled up emotions

People tend to bottle up their emotions inside so no one can see them (me included), leaving the impression of no stress or anxiety. Yes, we should try to talk about the feelings inside of us, but sometimes there are multiple situations bothering us, or multiple things that have happened in the given day that affected us. Some people don’t like to talk about how they feel because they think it would be spreading negative energy, so they keep to themselves. It's like you're trapped in a cage. It feels like one of those people who can’t see a rainbow. When we overthink like this, we start to feel heavy and sad. Our hearts and chests begin to tighten -- we can’t escape how we are feeling.

We just don’t feel like ourselves, and we don’t know why.

Until we allow ourselves to FEEL, we will not begin to feel better.

Talking about emotions is important -- don’t keep them inside! Writing in a journal, ranting to a friend, family member or parent (although you may not want to), or seek help from a guidance counselor, therapist or any other trusted adult. Even though anxiety and depression may get to you, you are not alone.

For people who don’t experience this, just know that you don't know what goes on behind closed doors. You may think you know someone, but you probably don’t.

Please be kind -- even a smile can make someone’s day a little brighter.
